the forecast said clear skies. it rained anyway. it always rains here now.

she used to say the rain was just the sky being honest. i didn't understand what she meant. i think i do now.

i still walk the long way past her house. the light in her window never comes on.

i stand there longer than i should. sometimes i wave.

i wrote her a letter every morning for a year.

they're all still in the drawer. i never knew what address to put on them.

most of them just say good morning. some of them say i'm sorry. one of them only says おはよう, over and over, until the page runs out.

one of them is somewhere on this site. she'd have found it. she always fidgeted with that bow.

i used to refresh it at night to see if anyone came. nobody signs the guestbook anymore. i leave it open anyway, in case.
